The Desert Hills Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Hurricane Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Wednesday, Desert Hills earned a 64-52 win over the Reds.
Desert Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Rasmussen out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Chaz Holbrook was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Hurricane's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 81-49 loss at the hands of Dixie. While losing is never fun, Hurricane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Flyers are ranked third).
Despite the defeat, Hurricane saw an underclassman step up: Brigham Kemp scored 17 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kemp has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rj Hurst, who scored 12 points.
Desert Hills' victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8. As for Hurricane, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Desert Hills hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.5 points per game. However, it's not like Hurricane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Desert Hills strolled past the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 70-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Desert Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
