There's no place like home for the Fairmont Firebirds, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 58-10 stomp they got at home against Western Hills. That looming 58-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Fairmont yet this season.
Leading Fairmont to victory were Kenzie Roark and Kaylah Thornton. Roark scored 12 points along with four steals, while Thornton scored 17 points along with four blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thornton has scored at least 25% of Fairmont's points. Peyton Adams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Fairmont's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Western Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Fairmont will head out on the road to face off against Northmont at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Northmont is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Western Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cincinnati College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
