The Pace Vikings will challenge the Porter Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Pace turned things around against Donna on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Redskins. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Redskins on their field since March 9, 2021.
The team relied heavily on Valeria Alvarado, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Mares, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Pace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Porter got the win against Rivera on Friday by a conclusive 10-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.
Mia Sosa made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Sosa was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Gabby Sosa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Krystal Paredes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Porter's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Pace, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pace has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Porter struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pace skirted past Porter 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
