The Northern Valley Huskies can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-43 victory over Logan/Palco. Northern Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northern Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austyn Cox, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least 25% of Northern Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Baird, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Logan/Palco saw an underclassman step up: Lylah Voss dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Voss' third in a row with at least ten points. Mara Kats was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Northern Valley's win bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Logan/Palco, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Northern Valley will face off against Thunder Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Thunder Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northern Valley in Kansas (Thunder Ridge is ranked 97th, while Northern Valley is ranked 254th). Logan/Palco will be home for the holidays to greet Natoma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Lillian Carter and Kats.
