Baseball Recap: Dobie Triumphs

After losing to North Shore the last time they met, Dobie decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dobie Longhorns walked away with a 6-1 win over the North Shore Mustangs on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Longhorns.

Johan De La Paz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Dobie is undefeated when De La Paz posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Miguel Mercedes, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory got Dobie back to even at 4-4. As for North Shore, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Dobie will take on Iowa Colony at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Iowa Colony will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Dobie surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Shore, they will head out on the road to face off against Pasadena Memorial at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pasadena Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so North Shore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
