Skaneateles has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Solvay Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Skaneateles is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bearcats in New York (the Lakers are ranked 166th, while the Bearcats are ranked 583rd).
Back in January, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Skaneateles had to settle for a 56-53 defeat against the Eagles.
Solvay lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Marcellus, falling 79-38. Solvay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-14.
Skaneateles' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4. As for Solvay, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
Skaneateles didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Bearcats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Skaneateles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
