The Lockney Longhorns pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 82-62 defeat at the hands of Floydada. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lockney in their matchups with the Whirlwinds: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lockney lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nathan Hernandez. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Dyllan Thiebaud, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floydada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyrean Henderson, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Aiden Trevino was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Lockney has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Floydada, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Ralls the next time they take the court. Lockney will head out to face the Jackrabbits at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Whirlwinds will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
