Basketball Recap: Spanaway Lake Takes a Loss

Spanaway Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sumner Spartans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Sentinels still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Spanaway Lake lost, don't look at Darius Alexander. Despite the final result, he posted 28 points. That's the most points Alexander has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Demond Louis, who earned ten points along with six boards and three steals.

Spanaway Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Sumner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

When Spanaway Lake and Sumner next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Spanaway Lake will try to stop Puyallup's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Spanaway Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. Similarly, Sumner will try to stop Olympia's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
