Football Recap: Cloverdale Skates Past Tindley with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Cloverdale rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Tindley Tigers 61-6. The Clovers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 28 points or more this season.

Keshaun Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 132 yards and three scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Cloverdale: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Trey Schabel was in the mix too, providing the Clovers with three touchdowns.

Cloverdale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tytus Killion, Marcus Boyd, and Schabel picked up one apiece. Killion got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Cloverdale, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaiah Blackwell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Cloverdale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games. As for Tindley, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Cloverdale will face off against Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tindley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
