After a string of three wins, the Creekview Grizzlies's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against River Ridge, falling 70-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Creekview in their matchups with River Ridge: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Creekview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amilya Taft (sy). Despite the final result, she scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Creekview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
River Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Pearl, who scored 21 points along with five assists. The match was Pearl's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Cleaveland, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Creekview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for River Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Creekview won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cartersville at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Cartersville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Creekview is ranked 99th). River Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m. on December 9th. Wesleyan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 222 points over their last three matchups.
