The numbers might not have changed much, but the postseason is here and brought about plenty of gameday action in the power rankings this week. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Carlinville got a 35 - 21 win over Williamsville last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jarret Easterday. Easterday tossed the ball for 243 yards and three TDs. That performance made Easterday one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
Ladue Horton Watkins has been an offensive powerhouse for three straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It breezed past Rockwood Summit with a final score of 38 - 15. Ladue Horton Watkins made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. With 13 consecutive wins, Ladue Horton Watkins boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
A
The battle between Kirkwood (ranked 26th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Joplin (ranked 8th) turned out to be a somewhat underwhelming competition. Kirkwood had a rough outing against Joplin, losing 49 - 14. It wasn't all bad, though, since the team's performance bumped it up one place in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Christian Brothers (1st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Joplin (8th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Christian Brothers and Joplin both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Christian Brothers with ten and Joplin with nine), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
