WPIAL A Big 7 Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances across Friday and Saturday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Anthony Hopkins Tops All Others This Week
Starting off the list is Northgate's Anthony Hopkins, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Hopkins picked up 37 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Northgate's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
With the victory, Northgate broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. Hopkins will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Rochester on Friday.

Northgate Gets a Boost from Layne in 49-12 Win
Another Northgate player making an appearance on this list is Sonteon Layne. He threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Layne must have Summit Academy's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Layne last faced the Knights back in September of 2023, he rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes.

Jino Mozzocio Dazzles in Neshannock Victory
Neshannock picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Jino Mozzocio. Mozzocio did his part (and then some), rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 115 yards while completing 75% of his passes for the 'W'.
Neshannock pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They and Summit Academy are set to duel on Friday.

Kolton Carlson and Co. Win Fourth in a Row
Kolton Carlson's big game helped extend Laurel's winning streak to four on Friday. Carlson turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 83 receiving yards.
Shenango's probably not too fond of Carlson given he always seems to get the better of them. When Carlson last faced the Wildcats back in October of 2023, he picked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 52 yards on only five carries.
