The Brazosport Exporters will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sweeny Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Brazosport and four for Sweeny.
On Saturday, Brazosport was the victim of a tough 4-1 defeat at the hands of Columbia.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Sweeny's offense. Their tough 5-0 defeat to Needville on Monday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Sweeny can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while Needville is ranked 220th).
Brazosport dropped their record down to 4-9-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sweeny, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 1-6-1 record this season.
Brazosport beat Sweeny 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Brazosport have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sweeny turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
