Buckingham Browne & Nichols took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. KENNETH TSAY looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Buckingham Browne & Nichols got a massive performance out of DAN GRAPSKI, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave GRAPSKI a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MAX RE, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Buckingham Browne & Nichols always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Groton School). Everything went their way against St. George's on Friday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. Groton School hasn't had any issues with St. George's recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Leighton Matney looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Yuri Tanaka and Kaiden Donia did most of the damage at the plate: Tanaka went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Donia went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Tanaka has become a key player for Groton School: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiran Sen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The victory got Buckingham Browne & Nichols back to even at 6-6-1. As for Groton School, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
