There's no place like home for the Saginaw Rough Riders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over Rider. Given Saginaw's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Rider is ranked 666th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saginaw's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Gastile, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Gastile continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Roseberry, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Despite the loss, Rider still got an impressive performance from Caiden Reed, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Reed hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. Gavin Aday was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Saginaw's win bumped their record up to 24-8. As for Rider, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-20.
Saginaw will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Saginaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday. As for Rider, they will head out on the road to square off against Aledo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
