The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Fullerton on the road to the tune of 67-20. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Clarkson/Leigh has managed all season.
Chloe Hanel was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with six steals. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Brynn Settje was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Fullerton still got an impressive performance from Jaci Maxfield, who scored eight points along with three steals. Maxfield is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fullerton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory (which was Clarkson/Leigh's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Fullerton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Clarkson/Leigh will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Shelby-Rising City at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shelby-Rising City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. Fullerton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fillmore Central at 11:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fillmore Central is ranked 233rd, while Fullerton is ranked 217th).
