Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Wharton Wildcats walked away with it. They breezed by the Packers at home to the tune of 62-22 on Wednesday. Wharton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Nina Green continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hurst, who scored 12 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Largo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikayla Paschal, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds, and Kiara Sprague who scored five points. That was a full 40.9% of Largo's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Largo struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wharton racked up 23 assists.
Wharton's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Largo, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
Wharton will square off against Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillsborough has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 449 points over their last seven games. Largo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
