It was a good run, but the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Jets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost to Capital Prep at home by a decisive 80-62 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Capital Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amare Cockfield, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cockfield pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malique Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds.
Academy of Aerospace and Engineering's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Capital Prep, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.
Academy of Aerospace and Engineering will look to defend their home court on Friday against Classical Magnet at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Classical Magnet is ranked 81st, while Academy of Aerospace and Engineering is ranked 99th). As for Capital Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Metropolitan Learning Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Metropolitan Learning Center comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
