The Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms lost against the Marcellus Mustangs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Syracuse Academy of Science fell to Marcellus 54-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Syracuse Academy of Science has scored all season.
Leading Marcellus to victory were Tucker Burnett and Will Burnett. Burnett scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, while Burnett scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jake Meyer was another key contributor, scoring six points.
This is the second loss in a row for Syracuse Academy of Science and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Marcellus, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Syracuse Academy of Science will take on Christian Brothers Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marcellus, they will head out on the road to challenge Utica Academy of Science at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Utica Academy of Science will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Marcellus is ranked 18th).
