The Rivera Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Pace Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rivera easily dispatched Donna North on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of Mercedes by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Anahy Gonzalez-Torres was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dezaray Banda, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Pace made sure to put some runs up on the board against Donna North on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 18-1 victory. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Sofia Alejandro was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lilly Banda was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Pace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Pace's record is now 10-11. As for Rivera, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
Pace's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Rivera has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pace, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Rivera keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Rivera suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Pace in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
