Lawndale moved up to 581 from 656 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pioneer. A 34-31 win over Palos Verdes Peninsula helped the Cardinals improve their standing.
Lawndale was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. Rick Mathiesen's team beat the Panthers 34-31 earlier in the week.
El Segundo's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Daniel Zeman threw for 48 yards and Austin Kurke had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Brasher chipped in 44 yards. Kaylin Franklin helped El Segundo's passing attack out by catching three balls for 33 yards.
El Segundo's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Zeman has thrown for 824 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Jamie Stewart has 23 catches for 235 yards. Brasher leads the league in rushing with 241 yards.
The Cardinals led Pioneer in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on Palos Verdes Peninsula.
