The Preston Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Snake River Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Preston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Preston will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Burley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Indians walked away with a 6-3 win over the Bobcats on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Ellie Keller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Keller was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paisley Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Dunn, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Snake River). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past American Falls 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 30, 2024.
Snake River got a massive performance out of Tessa Mitchell, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base was Mitchell's first of the season. Harlee Lane was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Snake River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Snake River's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-14. As for Preston, their record now sits at 8-10.
Preston's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Snake River, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Preston continue to outrun the ball?
Preston took their victory against Snake River in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 19-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
