Lake Country Lutheran is a perfect 10-0 against St. Francis since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lightning are taking a road trip to take on the Mariners at 4:30 p.m. Lake Country Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Lake Country Lutheran proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out St. John's Northwestern Military Academy 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lightning have posted since April 13, 2024.

Jack Poellot and Braden Theis made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Poellot pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Theis struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Poellot has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Poellot went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Theis went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Theis has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Nehls, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Gabe Snyder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Lake Country Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, St. Francis came up short against Milwaukee Reagan on Friday and fell 7-3. The Mariners have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lake Country Lutheran, their record is now 3-1.
St. Francis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Country Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've only averaged .194. Will they be able to contain Lake Country Lutheran's hitters?
Everything went Lake Country Lutheran's way against St. Francis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lake Country Lutheran made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
