Softball Recap: West Florence Has No Trouble Against Darlington

After only two runs in their last contest, West Florence made sure to put some runs up on the board against Darlington on Wednesday. West Florence was the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over Darlington. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Annie Ruth Eliason made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Jayde Perugini tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).

Back at the plate, Ashlyn Dasiy and Anniston Kirshy did most of the damage at the plate: Dasiy scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Kirshy went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Kirshy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Davis, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

West Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Darlington only posted a batting average of .217.

West Florence's record is now 7-3. As for Darlington, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

West Florence has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Sumter on the 27th. As for Darlington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 victory against Lower Richland on the 28th.
