It was a good run, but the Anna Coyotes unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Panther Creek by a score of 48-45. While losing is never fun, Anna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Panther Creek is ranked 136th).
Anna lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayonna Cooper, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Iv Jackson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Anna's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11. As for Panther Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anna will challenge Van Alstyne at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Van Alstyne is on a three-game streak of home wins, Anna a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Panther Creek, they will head out on the road to take on Celina at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
