Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Holy Name

Holy Name had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Padua Franciscan Bruins as they made off with an 11-5 win. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Reagan Vavro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Vavro was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

In other batting news, Maura Mihalik was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Anna Soos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Holy Name's record now sits at 15-3. As for Padua Franciscan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Name will head out to face off against Magnificat at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Padua Franciscan, they will venture away from home to square off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
