The Miller Cardinals will face off against the Marionville Comets at TBD on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Miller's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They breezed by Hayti at home to the tune of 34-6. The victory was just what Miller needed coming off of a 57-0 defeat in their prior game.
Miller's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caden Calvin, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jarod Lung, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Miller's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Jaxon Fris and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Marionville put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Miller onto the board and left with a 57-0 victory. Considering Marionville has won eight games by more than 27 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
Marionville can attribute much of their success to Braydon Bellah, who picked up 47 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Hugh Eaton was in the mix as well, providing Marionville with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Miller to 3-7 and Marionville to 9-0.
Miller took a serious blow against Marionville in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 57-0. Can Miller avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
