The Providence-St. Mel Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Holy Trinity Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Providence-St. Mel's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by DePaul College Prep 75-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Providence-St. Mel in their matchups with DePaul College Prep: they've now lost seven in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kenneth Miller, who scored nine points. He scored a full 32.1% of Providence-St. Mel's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ahmad Boyd, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Holy Trinity's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were dealt a 49-20 defeat at the hands of Ida Crown Jewish Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Trinity has scored all season.
Providence-St. Mel's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Holy Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
