The Unioto Shermans had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southeastern 56-8 on the road. The result was nothing new for Unioto, who have now won six matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Newton Hoops continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. Unioto also got a significant boost from Ethan Summar, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
Unioto's win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Southeastern and 1-9 Huntington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.7% over those games). As for Southeastern, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Unioto will be playing at home against Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Urbana is ranked 246th, while Unioto is ranked 239th). Southeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
