Cross County recap September 24, 2013
Miami East's Robbie Adams recorded the longest rushing play in Cross County this season in his game against Arcanum last week. Adams scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 120 on the day as his team beat the Trojans.
Arcanum scaled the state rankings by moving to 512 from 554 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jason Stephan's team climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Miami East 49-13.
National Trail's dynamic duo of Garrett Griffin and Niko Nakis proved to be unstoppable against Bradford, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Griffin threw for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns and Nakis had 81 yards receiving. Phillip White helped National Trail's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 81 yards.
The Blazers' dynamic duo of Griffin and Nakis proved tough for the Railroaders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Adams was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Colton McKinney added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Griffin put up the best numbers in passing as National Trail topped Bradford.
He went 18-31 with 0 interception.
Nakis was the best receiver in Cross County this week as Tony Sonsini's team bested Curtis Enis' team.
The Blazers' Griffin and White have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Griffin has thrown for 1,037 yards this season, while White, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 292 yards. Ansonia's Jordan Newman leads the league in rushing yards with 397.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Tri-County North takes on Bethel. The Panthers are currently in first, while the Bees are in sixth.
Tri-County North extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mississinawa Valley, 34-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
