Father Ryan is preparing for their first  district matchup of the season  on Tuesday.  Kennedy Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned  (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits.
 At the plate,  Sydney Hucik was a standout: she scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Stella Coller, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II earned  a  5-1 victory over Ezell-Harding Christian  on Monday.
Pope John Paul II also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Carmen Shick gave up a  run (which was  unearned)  on three hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance gave  Shick a new career-high in  strikeouts.
 On the hitting side,  Mia Calisi was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.  Laney Jackson was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Pope John Paul II now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Father Ryan,  the  win  got them back to even at 1-1.
