Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Carroll Eagles couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by the Wolves 81-44 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Carroll can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Vigor is ranked 34th).
Despite the defeat, Carroll saw an underclassman step up: N'jia Gosha almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Gosha hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for four straight games. Devon Pruitt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Vigor, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-6-1.
Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vigor, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Eufaula at 10:30 a.m. on February 16th. Vigor is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
