The York Institute Dragons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Polk County 40-12 at home. The result was nothing new for York Institute, who have now won six games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Myles Leffew continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 197 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 86 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. Leffew was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Riylin Miller was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Although Polk County took the loss, they still got scores from Matthew Maxwell and Damien McWilliams.
York Institute's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.89 points. As for Polk County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
York Institute will be playing at home against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagleton College & Career Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while York Institute is ranked 80th). As for Polk County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hampton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Polk County likes a good challenge.
