Kauffman fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Oak Grove Panthers on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Kauffman just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
It was another big night for Maurkalip Riley, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Oak Grove. Riley hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Phillip Nadeau was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Kauffman has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Oak Grove, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
Kauffman's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bishop Ward at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. The timing is sure in Bishop Ward's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Kauffman has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Oak Grove will take on St. Paul Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
