Cranston West is 6-0 against East Providence since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Cranston West Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the East Providence Townies at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Monday, Cranston West faced North Kingstown in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cranston West fell just short of North Kingstown by a score of 46-44.
Despite the defeat, Cranston West got a solid performance out of Maia Riccio, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Saniyya Chase was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Providence's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 43-29 to North Kingstown. East Providence has not had much luck with North Kingstown recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Cranston West's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for East Providence, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Cranston West didn't have too much breathing room in their game against East Providence in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cranston West since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
