Centaurus is 2-8 against Longmont since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Centaurus Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Longmont Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Centaurus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.
Centaurus is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Windsor, falling 57-33. The Warriors were down 41-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Harry Lyle, who posted six points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Gablehouse, who put up four points.
Meanwhile, Longmont entered their tilt with Niwot on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Cougars 47-24. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Centaurus better keep an eye on Levi Varga. He was instrumental in Longmont's win, putting up eight points and three steals. Those eight points gave Varga a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dominic Lombrano, who posted eight points.
Centaurus now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Longmont, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Centaurus has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 boards per game. However, it's not like Longmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
