The East Union Lancers will take on the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack in a tournament on Friday. Cosumnes Oaks took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on East Union, who comes in off a win.
East Union barely beat Patterson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Mikayla Simpson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Caliyah Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jacey Jauregui also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
East Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pleasant Grove.
Cosumnes Oaks also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Amyah Avila gave up four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Cosumnes Oaks saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Fleishman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
East Union's record now sits at 10-12. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
East Union came up short against Cosumnes Oaks in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, falling 18-13. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
