After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hilliard Bradley, the South Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They secured a 52-46 W over Walnut Ridge. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
South's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marquan Felts-Lipsey, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daeshawn Simmons, who scored nine points.
When it comes to explaining why Walnut Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominique Aekins. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Aekins hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Marquis Lucas, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
South's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Walnut Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
South will head out on the road to challenge Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Walnut Ridge, they will be playing at home against West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
