On Tuesday, the Shenendehowa Plainsmen faced the Albany Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Shenendehowa pulled ahead with a 40-39 photo finish over Albany. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Shenendehowa has scored all season.
Albany's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iyana Weedon, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Azera Gates was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Shenendehowa's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Albany, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shenendehowa is on the road again on Saturday and plays Ketcham at 12:30 p.m. on February 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Ketcham is ranked tenth, while Shenendehowa is ranked ninth). As for Albany, they will head out on the road to challenge Niskayuna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Albany focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
