Baseball Game Preview: Hume-Fogg Blue Knights vs. Fairview Yellowjackets

The Hume-Fogg Blue Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Fairview Yellowjackets at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hume-Fogg will be strutting in after a victory while Fairview will be coming in after a loss.

Hume-Fogg took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Nashville Magnet, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Hume-Fogg won by a run and slipped past East Nashville Magnet 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Knights have posted against the Eagles since May 12, 2021.

Buren Bradley made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one triple. Hume-Fogg is undefeated when Bradley posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Sandberg was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Chapman also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hume-Fogg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Fairview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 17-0 to Creek Wood.

Hume-Fogg's record now sits at 4-8. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Hume-Fogg couldn't quite finish off Fairview in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 14-12. Can Hume-Fogg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
