Dodge County is 8-2 against Hawkinsville since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dodge County Indians will look to defend their home court against the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Dodge County will be looking to keep their 21-game home win streak alive.
Dodge County pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-58 to Worth County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dodge County came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Worth County is ranked 240th).
Meanwhile, Hawkinsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilcox County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hawkinsville has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Darius Anderson, who scored nine points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks. Anderson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Mcdonald, who scored nine points.
Dodge County's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2. As for Hawkinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Dodge County took their win against Hawkinsville when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 58-33. Will Dodge County repeat their success, or does Hawkinsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
