The Fleming Wildcats lost against the Stratton Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fleming took a serious blow against Stratton, falling 70-26. Fleming was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.
When it comes to explaining why Fleming lost, one person who can't be blamed is Will Bornhoft. Despite the final result, he scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Leading Stratton to victory were Von Isenbart and Cyler Notter. Isenbart scored 13 points along with four steals, while Notter scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks. Isenbart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Rustin Williams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
Fleming has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Stratton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fleming won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prairie at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Stratton, Stratton and Hi-Plains will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Hi-Plains: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Stratton has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
