North Chicago has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Grant Community Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
North Chicago fell victim to Wauconda's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Bulldogs, falling 64-0. While losing is never fun, North Chicago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Wauconda is ranked 159th).
Meanwhile, Grant Community made easy work of Lakes on Friday and carried off a 34-13 win. The result was nothing new for Grant Community, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Grant Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Gipson, who rushed for -15 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 203 yards and a touchdown while completing 86.7% of his passes. adreean williams made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Grant Community's win bumped their season record to 5-3 while North Chicago's loss dropped theirs to 2-6.
North Chicago was taken down by Grant Community 1-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can North Chicago avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
