The Ashley Hall Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Northwood Academy 72-35. While losing is never fun, Ashley Hall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Northwood Academy is ranked sixth).
alayah birch was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds for Northwood Academy. Birch is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Birch, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Ashley Hall's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Northwood Academy, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashley Hall will take on First Baptist School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwood Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Porter-Gaud at 6:15 p.m.
