Basketball Game Preview: Estherville Lincoln Central Midgets vs. Emmetsburg E'Hawks

Estherville Lincoln Central and Emmetsburg are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Estherville Lincoln Central Midgets will face off against the Emmetsburg E'Hawks at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Estherville Lincoln Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 11 straight losses, while Emmetsburg will come in with three straight wins.

Last Friday, Estherville Lincoln Central came up short against Spirit Lake and fell 74-61. While losing is never fun, the Midgets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Indians are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Emmetsburg). They blew past Storm Lake St. Mary, posting a 92-29 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Emmetsburg pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points over those games. As for Estherville Lincoln Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Estherville Lincoln Central came up short against Emmetsburg when the teams last played back in January, falling 62-58. Can Estherville Lincoln Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
