Guilderland is a perfect 5-0 against Mohonasen since October of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Flying Dutchmen will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Guilderland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Mohonasen will come in with six straight victories.
Last Thursday, Guilderland came up short against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and fell 3-1.
While Guilderland had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Mohonasen made easy work of Cohoes on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Mohonasen's got stronger as the match went on, holding Cohoes to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18, 25-15.
Guilderland better focus on containing Ella Rickard and Abby Quenneville as the pair were huge in Mohonasen's win. RickaRd had nine digs and one assist, while Quenneville had six kills, four digs, and three aces. Quenneville is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season.
Mohonasen was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Mohonasen's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Guilderland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Guilderland skirted past Mohonasen 3-2 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Will the Flying Dutchmen repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
