Baseball Recap: Highland Tech Has No Trouble Against Ashbrook

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Gaston, Highland Tech was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Ashbrook Greenwave with a sharp 14-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Greenwave: they've now won four in a row.

Grayson Lunsford and Zane Milstead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lunsford struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Milstead pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Lunsford got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while Milstead scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Lunsford a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Karr was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Trey Costner was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

The victory got Highland Tech back to even at 1-1. As for Ashbrook, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Highland Tech will take on Piedmont Community Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashbrook, they will challenge North Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
