Leechburg had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Aquinas Academy Crusaders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 last Monday.

Garrett Jones made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Leechburg got a massive performance out of Rocco Vigna, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Vigna a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Henry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Leechburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Leechburg pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Aquinas Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leechburg will face off against Winchester Thurston at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Winchester Thurston will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Leechburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Aquinas Academy, they will square off against Union Area at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
