Football Recap: Medfield Skates Past Norton with Ease

Medfield had won six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped up to 8-0 to make it seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Norton Lancers 36-6. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Brady McCormack produced another solid performance rushing for 169 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards dating back to last season.

As for Norton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4. They gained 248 more yards on the day, but it was Medfield that made the best use of them.

Norton's loss came despite strong showings from Owen Smigielski and Jacoby Flynn. Smigielski rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while Flynn rushed for 83 yards and one score on only nine carries.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Medfield will challenge Northeast Metro RVT at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th. As for Norton, they will face off against Foxborough at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
