Softball Recap: Spring Creek Wins Going Away Against Sparks

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Spring Creek and Sparks had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spring Creek Spartans blew past the Sparks Railroaders 19-1 on Saturday. Considering the Spartans have won four matches by more than 14 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Karli Nichols made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nichols was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Adalynne Dolfin and Hannah Montoya did most of the damage at the plate: Dolfin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Montoya scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI Dolfin has posted since back in March of 2024. Emma Windous was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Spring Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive games.

The victory got Spring Creek back to even at 5-5. As for Sparks, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Spring Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sparks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
